12 Hour and 24 Hour Time Converter

How the Two Clocks Differ

The 12 hour clock counts from 1 to 12 twice a day and uses AM for the morning and PM for the afternoon and evening. The 24 hour clock counts the hours of the day from 00 at midnight through to 23, so it never needs AM or PM. Many countries, as well as aviation, healthcare, and the military, use the 24 hour clock to avoid confusion.

The Tricky Hours at Noon and Midnight

Two times cause the most confusion. Midnight is 12:00 AM on the 12 hour clock and 00:00 on the 24 hour clock. Noon is 12:00 PM and 12:00. The converter handles both correctly so you never have to remember the rule.
