This calculator adds or subtracts two lengths of time given in hours, minutes, and seconds. It carries minutes and seconds correctly, so sixty seconds become a minute and sixty minutes become an hour, and it shows the answer as a phrase and as a clock style HH MM SS value.
For example, one hour thirty minutes plus forty five minutes and thirty seconds is 2 hours 15 minutes 30 seconds.
How It Works
Each time is converted into a total number of seconds. The two totals are then added or subtracted, and the result is converted back into hours, minutes, and seconds. Because the maths is done in seconds, there is never a rollover mistake at the sixty mark.
